AMARC at WSF in Nairobi, Kenya - January 20th-25, 2007!

The 7th edition of the World Social Forum

brings the world to Africa as activists, social movements, networks, coalitions and other progressive forces from Asia-Pacific, Latin America, the Caribbean, North America, Europe and all corners of the African continent converge in Nairobi, Kenya for five days of cultural resistance and celebration; panels, workshops, symposia, processions, film nights and much much more; beginning on the 20th of January and wrapping up on the 25th of January 2007.

The World Association of the Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC) will take an active part in the 7th edition of the WSF with the organisation of five workshops and a radiobraodcast that will be aired on the internet. Members of AMARC from various parts of the world will travel to Kenya to participate in this great endevour. Stay tune for more info!

The World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC) will participate in the Global Knowledge 3 (GK3) Conference which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from December 11 to 13, 2007.
From November 25 to December 10th, the Women's International Network of the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC-WIN) highlighted the 16 days of activism against gender violence with a second Annual Internet campaign. This year, the theme of campaign was: Demanding Implementation, Challenging Obstacles, End Violence against Women. Check out AMARC WIN podcast at www.amarc.org/16days.

As the snow-covered alpine resort in Davos, Switzerland prepared for the arrival of 2400 business and political leaders and their staffs, about twenty-five times as many activists and journalists gathered in the warmth of the African sun about 90 miles south of the equator. It was the beginning of the 7th World Social Forum, held this year in Nairobi, Kenya.

La Asamblea de Movimientos Sociales, organismo que aglutina a los participantes en el Foro Social Mundial dio a conocer sus resoluciones en una sesión vespertina el último día de actividades.
Las luchas africanas y las estrategias globales. Nosotros, los movimientos sociales africanos y del mundo entero nos hemos reunido aquí en Nairobi Kenia en el Foro Social Mundial de 2007 para celebrar África y sus movimientos sociales, África y su quebrada historia de lucha y en contra de la dominación extranjera, el colonialismo y el neocolonialismo, África y sus contribuciones a la humanidad, África y su papel en la construcción de otro mundo.

NAIROBI - We have arrived at the seventh World Social Forum, the first full WSF to be held on African soil. We have experienced these successful, massive events four times in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and once in Mumbai, India, while in 2006 we participated in the first-ever polycentric version of the Forum, held in Bamako, Caracas and Karachi.
NAIROBI - There are nine governments in Latin America that are thought to mark a new resurgence of Left-wing politics in the region. But panelists at a well-attended discussion on the relevance of socialism didn’t want to know.

La Asociación Mundial de Radios Comunitarias (AMARC) cubrirá, gracias al Internet y su red mundial de radios comunitarias las alternativas a la globalización neoliberal, por otro mundo posible discutidas por las organizaciones de la sociedad civil durante el Foro Social Mundial (FSM) que fue inaugurada en Nairobi, Kenya, el 20 de Enero de 2007.

The World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters, (AMARC) started covering, by Internet and through its world network of community radios the social alternatives to neoliberal golobalisation and development challenges, discussed by civil society organisations in the 7th World Social Forum (WSF) inaugurated in Nairobi, Kenya on January 20.
Previos a la inauguración del Foro Social Mundial, los Diálogos Feministas (FD) se llevan a Cabo en Nairobi, Kenia, con el fin de llevar nuevas propuestas a la reunión mundial de movimientos sociales y civiles que reunirá a cientos de personas de organizaciones de todo el mundo.
La mexicana Aleida Calleja participó del taller organizado por la Asociación Mundial de Radios Comunitarias sobre estándares internacionales de Derechos Humanos y su relación con los derechos de la comunicación.
Las Naciones Unidas nacieron en un contexto internacional postguerra que beneficiaba a los países vencedores: Foro Mundial de Redes de la Sociedad Civil 60 años después de haber sido fundadas las Naciones Unidas, es necesaria la creación de nuevas instituciones internacionales que respondan a los problemas de un nuevo orden mundial, manifestaron los participantes del seminario “Un nuevo sistema de Instituciones Internacionales para alcanzar los objetivos de Desarrollo en África”.

La Asociación Mundial de Radios Comunitarias (AMARC) cubrirá, gracias al Internet y su red mundial de radios comunitarias las alternativas a la globalización neoliberal discutidas por las organizaciones de la sociedad civil durante el Foro Social Mundial (FSM) que se realizará en Nairobi, Kenya, del 20 al 25 de Enero de 2007.
Entrevista con Francisco "Chico" Whitaker, militante social brasileño, co-fundador del FSM y galardonado con el Premio Nobel alternativo 2006, al que considera "como una distinción para todo el movimiento altermundialista y para el FSM".
Para la Asociación Mundial de Radios Comunitarias, el Foro Social Mundial constituye uno de los espacios de encuentro y convergencia de los movimientos sociales mas interesantes desde el término de la guerra fría.
El Foro de las Comunicaciones es una de las actividades propuestas para el FSM y busca poner en común las prácticas que nos permitan desarmar esta hegemonía discursiva y alentar la posibilidad de "otra comunicación para otro mundo posible".
La séptima edición del Foro Social Mundial atrae al mundo a África como activistas, movimientos sociales, redes, coaliciones y otras fuerzas progresistas del Pacífico Asiático, América Latina, el Caribe, América del Norte, Europa y todos los rincones del continente africano haciéndoles converger en Nairobi, Kenia, durante cinco días de resistencia cultural y celebración; paneles, talleres, simposios, movilizaciones, muestras de cine y mucho, mucho más; iniciando el 20 de enero y culminando el 25 de enero de 2007.
Del 20 al 25 de enero de 2007 se realizará en la ciudad de Nairobi, Kenia, el VII Foro Social Mundial.
Con miras al séptimo Foro Social Mundial que se llevará a cabo en Kenia entre el 20 y el 25 de enero próximo, el Consejo Internacional está impulsando una consulta acerca de campañas, acciones y luchas para estructurar las actividades del evento.
